Enter the fascinating world of innovation and technological breakthroughs that dazzled tens of thousands of visitors at Dubai EXPO 2020. Now these groundbreaking technologies are being showcased at the “Unlocking the Door into the Future” exhibition at the National Technical Museum in Prague, and Fillamentum will of course be there! Here you can see the latest Czech innovations that have captivated the world at this prestigious exhibition. Come and open the door to a future where sustainability, design and cutting-edge technology are intertwined.

EXPO 2020 in Dubai - Where It All Began

The exhibition at the National Technical Museum in Prague “Unlocking the Door into the Future” is mainly based on the EXPO 2020 World Exhibition, where the Fillamentum exhibition was partly interactive. Throughout, it was printing NonOilen material – the first 100% degradable filament for 3D printing, whose main advantage is recycling, where the material can be used up to 12 times without losing its functional properties, thus perfectly supporting the circular economy. This product was developed through a long-term collaboration with the research team of Prof. Ing. Pavel Alexy, Ph.D. from the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava. Thanks to this filament, the idea of “Green Prototyping” was also developed, which focuses on socially conscious customers mainly from the engineering and automotive sectors.

Green prototyping using the revolutionary NonOilen material was interpreted throughout the exhibition using a robotic arm provided by VUT in Brno and its spin-off, 3Deposition. The boundaries of 3D printing possibilities were thus pushed beyond imagination, eliminating the main disadvantage of this technology, i.e. the limited size of the printed object.

Green Robotyping (the name of the Fillamenum exhibition at EXPO 2020) thus beautifully combined the ideas of sustainability and technological advancement. It is therefore no wonder that this exhibition was awarded the Commissioner General’s Award for Czech Participation – Most Significant Contribution to the Theme of Sustainability (i.e. the theme of the zone where the Czech pavilion stood).

Another interesting feature of Fillamentum was the long-prepared version of NonOilen Terra, as this material was enriched with Dubai sand especially for the EXPO in Dubai. The main idea was to use a local resource in combination with a new generation biopolymer. The print material prepared in this way is also used to produce SANDIQ garden greening units – functional self-supporting structures designed to be printed using a robotic arm. They were designed in the Industrial Design Studio at the Faculty of Multimedia Communications at Tomas Bata University in Zlín under the supervision of the designer Martin Surman.

Unlocking the Door into the Future

The exhibition titled “Unlocking the Door into the Future Unveiling Czech innovations that shone at EXPO 2020 in Dubai” will be held at the National Technical Museum in Prague. On display are two dozen Hi-Tech innovations that together create the sustainable city of the future. The exhibition thus presents an innovative urban concept that combines different scientific disciplines and applications to create an environmentally friendly city. For example, the S.A.W.E.R. system, which produces water from the air using solar energy, is on display outside the Fillamentum exhibition. Also on display, for example, is the City of the Future designed by the architects of the Czech pavilion at EXPO 2020, which showcases energy conservation, water purification and environmental protection.

Fillamentum was involved as a partner in this revolutionary exhibition and contributed its 3D printing services to create a space for the presentation of ŠKODA cars and the City of the Future itself.

The Helping Hand of the Future

Fillamentum’s exhibition, entitled ” The Helping Hand of the Future”, focuses on innovative filaments that enable the creation of unique and complex designs with a sustainable touch. The revolutionary NonOilen will thus play a major role, just as it did at the World Exhibition, and will already be on display in new color shades (COMING SOON!!!). However, design enthusiasts may be impressed by materials such as Timberfill (wood composite) or the unique premium PLA colors (Vertigo series or the expanded Voodoo series). The general public will thus have the opportunity to appreciate the materials from the winner of the 3D Printing Industry Awards 2021 (Material Company of the Year).

3D printing materials are demonstrated on a large format 3D printing machine. This is done with the help of a robotic arm, again supplied and operated by 3Deposition under the direction of David Škaroupka. The unique design of all the prints was taken care of this time by the group A/M SHAPERS, which consists of a duo of two designers Martin Žampach (unique Bubble Vase project) and Aleš Grygar. The exposition presents an innovative approach, including a sustainable form of production of design-style objects, which are commonly surrounding us in homes, but also in public spaces.

However, our cooperation with 3Deposition and A/M Shapers is much more than just an exhibition. With full enthusiasm we plan to establish and develop further joint projects in the future. This symbiosis opens up endless possibilities for innovation and creativity. We are so excited about what lies ahead and look forward to unlocking the door to the wider world of innovation together.

Everyone Can Now Get a Glimpse of the Future

Accept our warm invitation and come to the exhibition Doors of the Future Wide Open. It is a unique opportunity to see the most innovative exhibits that shine at the EXPO 2020 World Expo in Dubai. What’s more, it all takes place in an impressive place where the past and futuristic ideas come together, the National Museum of Technology in Prague. The exhibition is already underway and will run until 31 March 2024.
