Usage of HIPS in Fillamentum

Our company is a producer of top-quality filaments for industrial applications. No wonder that we have applied our own 3D printed components into production. The constant need for production process improvement is a great opportunity for testing our own filaments on extrusion lines.

A calibration tray printed in HIPS was implemented in the production process of our filaments. “Production of filaments needs a fine adjustment of the water flow being on the same level in all axes,” explains Jan Daněk, a production technologist in Fillamentum. Thanks to the implementation of a printed tray, we have achieved a good and adequate ovality.

Why HIPS?

HIPS (high impact polystyrene) is a tough material for its high resistance to higher temperatures. Water does not affect this material and its mechanical properties are excellent. This filament is an excellent conductor and HIPS is often used also for printing of supports. The bonus is a certification for usage in applications that require food contact.
