Fillamentum at Expo 2020
in Dubai

Discover how to make a difference at the Sustainability Pavilion.

Fillamentum becomes part of a global event Expo 2020 Dubai. More than 192 countries will present their research and technological advances, all in one place in 6 months. Fillamentum can be found in the Sustainability Pavilion and will present its recently released 100% biodegradable filament NonOilen.

Robotic 3D printing

The Fillamentum exhibition will be partially interactive. The NonOilen material will be printed for the entire duration of the exhibition using a robotic arm developed in cooperation with the Brno University of Technology and its spin-off, 3Deposition. In this way, the boundaries of possibility for 3D printing are pushed beyond imagination, eliminating the main disadvantage of this technology, i.e., the limited size of the printed object. Fillamentum combines the ideas of sustainability and technological progress

Yet another interesting thing about Fillamentum is the long prepared version of NonOilen, filled with authentic minerals. Specifically for the Dubai EXPO, NonOilen has been enriched with Dubai sand. The intention of the company has been to use a local resource in combination with a new generation biopolymer. The printing material prepared in this way is also used to produce the SANDIQ garden greening units – functional self-supporting structures designed to be printed out using a robotic arm. They were designed in the Industrial Design Studio at the Faculty of Multimedia Communication of the Tomas Bata University in Zlín, led by the design author Martin Surman. 
