Fillamentum supported the project of Unie pečujících

Fillamentum has established cooperation with the Unie pečujících z. s. (Union of Caring people). The aim of this non-profit organization, which was founded in 2015, is to improve the quality of life for caring people. The organization helps families and people who care for their loved ones for a long time. The mission is to ensure that these people have a dignified life and an adequate position in society.

Unie pečujících provides expert advice, publishes brochures and organises seminars and regional conferences. In addition, it also organises self-help and creative meetings for carers. These meetings are a place to share the good and bad times of caring, to recharge and to take a break from the burden that caring can bring. At creative meetings all kinds of art techniques are tried out.

One such method is the 3D pen technique. “We first tried materials from different suppliers, and picked out the ones that suited us best. At a trade fair in Brno (MSV), we came across the company Fillamentum. Our caring work with the 3D pen really appealed to them. Not only did we get different colours, but also different materials.” said Zdeňka Michálková, chairwoman and expert guarantor, adding: “The filament with the addition of wood (Timberfill) is very interesting. Even in the very creation of the object, it smells partly like wood. Moreover, the result can be further processed like wood – sanding, varnishing. However, other strings have also been successful.”

Ms. Michálková also revealed that working with Fillamentum filaments is relatively easy: “Filaments by Fillamentum are very easy to work with. They hold their shape and in our case it was possible to work with all materials at the same temperature setting, 170 °C. Almost all the participants in the meeting were involved and are looking forward to the next one. Even those who have only watched so far are planning to get involved.”

The caring people, who used mostly PLA material, created decorative elements (pictures, ornaments), but also objects for daily use (bowls, stands, containers). “Due to the growing interest, we will have to purchase more 3D pens. Unlike traditional 3D printing, a 3D pen allows an idea to be transformed into a physical model almost instantly, without the need for additional software. Of course, it has many limitations compared to 3D printing, but this is not a barrier to its current use.” Ms Michálková concluded.

We can only wish the organisation every success. As well as much strength to all the caring families and persons who undoubtedly deserve it. The Fillamentum team is very excited about this project, and we hope to be able to participate in other similar projects that can put a smile on people’s faces.
