3D printed jewelry
by Barbora Koutna

Originally, Barbora Koutna was a construction designer, but after she got her first 3D printer as a Christmas gift she completely fell in love with this technology, set a new brand 3dBara, and started to design and create jewelry. The jewelry is printed with Fillamentum PLA Extrafill that offers a wide range of beautiful colors.

“3D printing filaments by Fillamentum belong to my favorite and the most used. They fulfill requirements for quality of printing and of course I appreciate the wide range of offered colors. I and my customers like the shades with special effects most, for example, PLA Extrafill Vertigo Grey, Wizard’s Voodoo, Rapunzel Silver, or Gold Happens. Among other very popular colors belong also PLA Extrafill Pearl Ruby Red, Pearl Night Blue, Baby Blue, Turquoise Green, Turquoise Blue, Signal Red, and Nobble Blue,” shares her experience Barbora Koutna.

After initial experiments with the printing of various small objects such as boxes, toys or household accessories, Bara’s attention turned to the world of 3D printed jewelry. It gives her a unique opportunity to model and print jewelry that she does not get in regular stores. In addition, they can be adapted to size, type, color, just exactly tailored to everyone. An important part of Bara’s production is the creation of jewelry and accessories on request, directly for specific clothing, patterns on fabrics or for specific occasions. “The world of 3D printing fascinated me mainly because I could create products from sketching to computer modeling to final printing all by myself.”

The first step of this new brand led to the market with design products and shops in several Czech cities. Thanks to growing interest the shop 3dbara.cz was launched immediately.

Apart from the endless options of creating different types and shapes of jewelry, another huge advantage is the properties of PLA. For printing the jewelry, the lightness, resistance, and wide range of color combinations are appreciated.

“I personally like the ecological aspect and sustainability of 3D printed jewelry the most. In addition, the operation of the 3D printer itself is energy-efficient, and this type of production allows you to produce only as many pieces as it consumes, making it ideal for custom production, “ closes Barbora Koutna.
